Golden Anniversary

During AFBF’s “golden anniversary year”—1969—many states accepted the challenge to reach “golden goals.” In March 1969, MFB staff and leaders celebrated reaching their state-set membership goal.

Retired MFB Legislative Counsel Emeritus Ron Nelson and the late West Regional Rep. Pat Lause helped put several names to the faces in this photo. Then former regional rep Ken Wimmer of Sanilac County turned up at MFB’s recent Lansing Legislative Seminar provided even more names. Ken himself is in the back row (third from the left). He said this was taken at the previous home office at 4000 Grand River Avenue, on the north side of Lansing out by the airport.

Back row, from left: Larry Ewing (field services division manager), Chuck Burkett (field operations director), Ken Wimmer (regional rep.), ________, Don Ruhlig (south regional rep.), Larry DeVuyst (board of directors), Ken Wiles (community group coordinator, regional rep.), ________, and Dave Cook. Front row, from left:Marley Drew, Helen Atwood (women’s activities coordinator), Bob Driscoll (west regional rep.), Norm Veliquette, Hugo Kivi (U.P. regional rep.), and Bob ________.
