In 1953 the Michigan Junior Farm Bureau served 8,000 meals at the Ionia Free Fair. It was the organization’s eighth consecutive year operating its popular fairgrounds cafeteria, managed by Carol Smith (Ionia County) and Richard Root (Gratiot County). Staff consisted of three hired chefs and nine full-time Junior Farm Bureau workers. Junior Farm Bureau groups from all over the state provided 15 additional volunteer workers each day. Cafeteria proceeds went toward community service projects. Share your Junior Farm Bureau in the comment section below!
